Read the shorthand
In 4x100 free @1:30, 4 is the repetition count and 100 is the distance of each repetition in the workout’s units. Free means freestyle. The @1:30 is the send-off: you start each repetition every one minute and thirty seconds. It is not a claim that each swim took 1:30, and it is not ninety seconds of rest after finishing.
The line 8x50 kick describes eight repetitions of fifty, marked as kick work. The line 4x100 IM describes four hundreds of individual medley. Set your course correctly so those distances are recorded in yards or metres as intended.
Draft first, save when it is right
Open workout capture and choose Type my workout. Enter the sets you swam, then check the draft. Swimlog turns supported shorthand into structured set fields that you can edit. Review the repetition count, stroke, distance and interval before logging, particularly when a coach uses notation that is new to you.
Kick, drill and pull work belong in the practice record too. Add or adjust equipment, effort, notes and repetition times as needed. The draft gives you a place to correct an interpretation or record a change your lane made during practice. Nothing is logged until you confirm it.
A record you can use later
Saved sets stay together as a workout, with a full set list and total distance. Search the logbook by title, stroke, note or date. Across the season, follow training volume, active days and stroke mix; keep race results, meets and personal bests in the same app.
Swimlog supports SCY, SCM and LCM courses and saves the native units of each workout. Core logging saves locally on your phone, with cloud sync when connected. If the practice is already on the whiteboard, scanning is another way to create a draft for review.
Questions, answered
Does Swimlog support every coach’s notation?
Notation varies, so check the parsed draft and edit any fields that do not match your practice. Shorthand is a capture aid, and you control the saved workout.
Where can I get Swimlog?
